The Lighthouse had the distinct honor of opening the first Veteran’s Home in Lynchburg, Virginia that houses homeless U.S. Veterans with wrap-around supportive services. Our Program Director, Terrick Moyer, is a U.S. Air Force Veteran who shares an affinity with the men. He continually reviews the therapeutic services available for them to ensure all the support and resources are available.


In November of 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the day to commemorate the end of WWI with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”
